Ok, I am starting to panic a bit. Have applied for dd who is 4-yrs-old at 3 different schools and waitlisted for all 3. My questions are, is that too few to apply at? Should I try for more? I am trying to find one with American curriculum and close to JBR. Also, what DO we do if we don't end up getting a spot anywhere? Anyone have experience with this? Is homeschooling the only option or do you typically see the waitlists clear up more towards summer when people begin making decisions as to where they will enroll? I am not against other types of curriculum, just wanting to make sure she isn't too far off from American peers as our move to Dubai is somewhat temporary. TIA!!

You can always homeschool until you get a spot at a school. It works out approx 18000 per year with the K12 Programme.

Try Nibras International School in Dubai Investment Park. I know a girl who goes there and the parents are very happy with the school...

I'm sure you'd get a spot in Nibris, Green Community... it may be a little far out though....

with all of this waitlisting. when is the right time to apply for schools? I mean do we start when the child is 3 years and reserve a place?

Surely you can get into an American school! It's only the British ones that are tough to get into. Your choices on this side of town include ASD, DAA, Gems World, and Bradenton - at Sports City, but not a bad drive if you take the D611. That's what I thought!! :( Unfortunately ASD is not an option as it's the most expensive due to the new deposit required for the new building. It is refundable upon withdrawal, but still just too much upfront. We've applied at DAA, waitlisted. Will look into the others you mentioned. Thanks!! edited by MereTX81 on 04/04/2011
