Thanks, all. Clairehdp, which model do you have in your lounge?
It's a model they are not doing any more - I know that because I was going to buy some new covers (you can buy extra covers for their sofas really cheaply too) but the guy told me that the model has been discontinued....but there are similar looking ones in their range
Is it the Ekeskog by any chance? we got that one and love it! its super comfy. but discontinued. so difficult to get new slipcovers.
Whenever we have people over they all want to sink in
We bought 2 Ikea sofas for our appt in London. We chose the cheapest they had (since we only stay 2 weeks a year)and we were surprised at how nice they are! Just recently my niece and her husband stayed there and she said our sofas were super comfy!!!
Our [very comfortable'> ikea sofa has been discontinued, but i got new covers from bemz.com - delivered here too. they do covers for all current and discontinued ikea chairs, sofas etc.
Good tip about the nice accessories!
Vickikate the labels do tell you if the covers are washable or not, and 90% of them usually are.
i love my ikea sofas too .. they look exactly like the crate and barrel / pottery barn ones but were sooo much cheaper :) and practical :) we have the ektorp series with the off-white/beige-ish covers. i bought small cushion covers from pottery barn (on sale), loads of them, together the sofas look just as they've been bought from an expensive shop :) a tip from nate, he says when you want to give something an expensive look but don't want to pay so much, get the base thing cheap, and spend on the accessories .. it really does look as if you've just picked it up from a designer shop :)

I love my Ikea Sofa
Can I ask those ladies who say they wash their covers, do they say they are washable on the labels? Ours say Dry Clean Only though are 100% cotton....I've washed the separate cushion covers and they are fine but I am nervous about washing the main covers. I don't really like the idea of dry cleaning chemicals all over our sofa. TIA
We bought two Ikea couches from two different sellers on dubizzle, and then purchased new matching covers for them, so they look like new :-) Dead easy to wash and soooo comfy!
we have 2 different types from Ikea and the ones in our lounge people always comment on how comfy they are and nearly fall off when they hear they are from Ikea!!! All the covers are washed regularly and they come up like new - great value and great sofas. I think it's worth paying for better ones rather than their base models.
We have had ours for 5 years and they are like new!

Try Index in Dubai Mall, we got lovely L Shape immitation leather one for 1500, had ot well over 1 year and it still looks amazing :)
Especially if you have little ones like us we just wipe it down no marks or anything :)
Very happy with ours! Every few months the covers are washed and it looks newish for a short while before it gets covered with sticky handprints and food debris again!

We need to buy a sofa. I love Crate & Barrel styles, but with two cats and a six-year-old boy, I am not sure I want to invest that much into soft furnishings right now. Can anyone comment on the Ikea slipcovered sofas? I'm not looking for something to last me forever, just for the next five years. Thanks!
