Thanks for all the replies, I missed some of them so apologies for responding late. I went to see Dr. Tukmechy and am waiting for blood test results; oddly hoping they'll find something wrong with me as I'd rather know what the issue is and treat it than keep hitting dead ends. I have got low vitamin D and had an injection to top me up for a year - probably do need to go back to the endocrinologist though for another one! Apparently my scalp looks fine, it's just that there's not much hair on it! Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies. I must say it's a difficult thing for a woman to experience...if it keeps falling out I think I'll definitely need to seek some councelling :( Often those sorts of blood tests don't come up with anything. That doesn't mean you can't fix your problem. If you are not satisfied with what your doctor comes up with, I have this book: http://www.hormonehelpny.com/ and I'm happy to lend it to you - it's amazing how simple the problem can be to fix but many doctors simply have no clue.

I had this problem and it turned out to be a thing called Pernicious anemia. Which means I don't absorb B12 so every 3 months I have to have a B12 injection. Ask the doctor to check for this. It was a urine test. I had no other symptoms. My Doctor said to be tested for it as I have other auto immune diseases and this is just another one. I went to a hair clinic in Australia and it was very successful. But you can replicate what they use. They used a hand held laser to improve the condition of the scalp. This actually works as I used it to cure my son's dermatitis on his scalp. Then used special shampoos but I don't think they made much difference. Then they gave you vitamins. I now take Silicea which makes a big difference. And they then got you to apply 2 times a day a liquid 5% Minoxidil - which you can buy from the pharmacy. I now just use the Silicea and Minoxidil. I hope this helps:)

Hi there, Please, please, please if you have hair loss go to get your Vitamin D levels checked. I have very severe deficiency and it turns out that this is why I was having hairloss. The same happened to my 2 friends. This is a major problem here ironically because people stay out of the sunlight. Just go to your doctor and talk to them about getting a blood test. You will be surprised that after 1 1/2 months of vitamin therapy you don't have the hair loss. Good luck :) I am very likely to have that deficiency since I am covered. Will get my level checked, was supposed to do this a long time ago, thanks for the reminder :) @Sam, thanks for the info on the doctor!

hey there im currently seeing Dr. Muna Hassan in the EHL(emaar health clinic) dubai mall.she has been previously recommended here on expat woman.i went to her primamrly for post partum(port delivery) hair loss which i found to be too much ..(((like i had 100-150 hair every time i brushed and unlimited amount on the floor n sofa at all times...it scared me!))) a receading hair line & acne developed during pregnancy. for hair she told me straight away after looking at my scalp that im not going bald..its just post partum n will grow back.she has given me a liquid to use avery alternate night to help the regroth process but my hair stoped falling after just 2-3 applications of the liquid..now i think i shed hardly 20-50 hair per day which is very normal... over all i found her very informative and concerned.i think it will be worth it to try her for hair loss.

As far as I know, without being extreme and fundamentalist, life threatening or not, a doctor is considered "mahram". So it should be fine. I think opinions differ over that my understanding is that only in case of real sickness it is permissable. But let's not get into a dicussion over that and get deleted again lol.. I would like to know though, if there is a female doctor who can help that would be great:)

His office is at Address "Office # 103, 1st Floor, Al Wahda Building, Port Saeed" Phone +971 4 2952121 I think he also hassome sessions at a centre in motorocity. The number is 04 3608866. He saved my life over 20 years ago when I was not too far from bald. I am sure he is only more experienced now. I don't want to hijack the thread but how can he help a mohajiba? I suppose he will have to see your hair right? Are there any women in the clinic as well? Genuine question; can't you take your hijab off for a medical reason for a doctor? Irooni thanks, I've booked an appointment at motor city for Wednesday...praying that he can help me, I'm desperate! If I am in a life threatening or at least very serious medical condition and there is only a man, yes, but for myself presonally my hair fall is not to that extend that I would consider it. I would want to speak to him and see what he suggests, but that's it. Anyhow I hope he will be able to help youl keep us updated! edited by Marroosh on 12/05/2012 Oh right ok, thanks for the explanation :) I'll post back on how it goes - by the number of posts on this subject I don't think I'm alone with this problem!

Thanks Irooni but it's not showing any website or contact number for him; does anyone know if he still practices here? What kind of treatment does he offer? Thanks
