Just a word of warning, be very careful when using the valet service here. My car was damaged by the valet company on 16th December, it is now being held by Al Futtaim as the valet company are dragging their heels over paying the excess involved due to the underage valet driver! The hotel and the valet company have been worse than useless throughout the whole matter. Beware!

I love valet parking at hotels but the moral of these stories does seem to be 'park your own car!!'

DM, kinda same thing happened to me at Ibn Battuta mall over a year ago. The valet crashed my car into another customers car. The whole front of my car and the back of hers was smashed in. The police showed up and at first the guy claimed he had driven my car into a post, that was until the woman in the other car drove back after realising her car was smashed up. They literally gave her car back to her and let her drive off with all the damage. (was pretty dark in the car park, so I can see how she may of missed it) However, because MY car hit HER car, I got the pink slip and she got the green slip. I was fuming, it looked like I was gonna have to pay for the damage to both cars through my insurance even though I wasnt driving the car. I argued for weks with the Valet company that it is their responsibility to pay fo rhte damage to both cars which they eventually agreed to. I took my car in to be repaired and a week later it was ready. Valtrans valet tried to get me to sign a disclaimer which said that once I leave the workshop with my car, I can never make a claim against them. I obviously refused to sign this and they then decided to call the police. I drove off before the police arrived as I know my rights and was not concerned. Anyway, thought everything was done and dusted until around 8 months later when I came to renew my car insurance..... Valtrans car insurance was also with Oman, the same insurance company as me. They hadnt told Oman Insurance it was their fault so all the repair charges to my car and her car were out through on my insurance and becasue the cost was so high they refused to renew my insurance. Can you imagine my anger!!!! I had letters from Valtrans stating their liability and that they would pay for the repairs. When I phoned the guy up, he said to me, "well, if we can get away with not paying then we will, and we consider this matter closed" Again, I had to go through the whole process of arguing with the company, I got the police down to the insurance company and still, it made no difference. In the end my boss stormed down to the insurance companies office and demanded to see the GM. Shouted at him and told him that our lawyer was on the way down. They eventually renewed my insurance and said they would work with their legal team to recover the money from Valtrans. Since then, I never EVER valet park, it really isnt worth it........
