Two months ago I had gynae surgery at Welcare and the service was fine. The nurses were attentive and good at keeping me cleaned up. I did have a post-op emergency and learned very quickly why the doc had selected this particular hospital. We were able to use the labour and delivery ward, with it's OB nurse and specialized equipment within seconds. In a matter of minutes the emergency was over and I was being taken back to my room.
The next day I needed another procedure with the ENT and loved him. That went well, too.
In all, no major issues with Welcare Hospital.
I was admitted to Welcare with pneumonia in January. Was in a week and found it to to be brilliant. Doctors were very informative and visited twice a day. Between Doctor visits a Junior Doctor would come in. I have only ever experienced American Hospital before this. One emergency c-section and one for medical reasons. 1st time was amazing treatment, second time the aftercare by nursing staff was not a patch on the first time. Definately favour Welcare. As for Medcare. Only experience was with the Dermatologist and this was a poor. Needed a mole removing for biopsy and she burnt it off leaving nothing left to biopsy!! All fine thankfully!!
You will always have positive and negatives for all hospitals, although there seems to be a lot of positives on here for Welcare!!
Good Luck.x
I've never gone to another hospital here, just always to Welcare and have never been dissappointed. It's run by the same management as City, so I guess one is as good as the other.
My friend delivered her baby at Welcare and had a very positive experience. Says she can't understand why it is hardly ever mentioned when ladies ask about maternity services and hospitals...
If I had to choose now I would say Medcare BUT only because it's more convenient for me, newer and I went to it more recently (Oct 2010) where as Welcare is further away from me, older and I last went there in June 2008.
Welcare I was admitted for emergency surgery after getting a broken jaw, I was quite out of it so didn't pay much attention to anything, though I could not complain about my treatment, doctor or nurses. All of their support was outstanding and they allowed my partner to sleep in the room on a side bed so I thought they made alot of effort to make me comfortable.
Sorry prob doesn't help all that much as each person's requirements differ but i was very pleased with both.
I've had surgery at both Welcare and Medcare and was very happy with both. Welcare is an older hospital but didn't effect the treatment provided. Stayed overnight at both and found all staff to be very attentive and helpful. Both of mine were with plastic surgeons, one elective and one due to an accident.
Which was better ??
