Where to buy smoke alarms/extinguishers

Does anyone know where i can buy smoke alarms and the right fire extinguishers (paper and electrical fires) from? I am renting a 5 bed Villa in Jumeriah 1 and do not want to wait around for the landlord to provide me with one. I have lived here for 2 years and they still havent provided me with any. It might be that they do not have to, so don't want to take any chances. Happy to pay for them, as back in the UK they were not that expensive. I am looking for the reliable ones. Do they need to be serviced? If so then by whom?
