International students quota? International students generate good income for Universities. Come on SW, you are bit cynical today! My DD is classed as a home student, thank god! Moi? Cynical? Just a wee bit after i continually hear about teachers re adjusting IB papers to help grades. I heard last year that the US universities were actually looking at upping the IB mark required for entry from international students as they have wind of some of the goings on in International schools.

I live close to Dollar Academy which is in Clackmannanshire near Stirling. It is a private boarding school and there are quite a number of kids whose parents are in the ME attending along with local kids from Qatar and Dubai. Stirling university which is about 10 minutes from us and St Andrews (about an hour away) is popular with young people from overseas including Emirati youngsters. edited by JoyceB on 18/03/2011

I had a look at DC website and I was quite surprised to see that only one child went on to Oxford. Didn't a few go Ivy League though?

She is at Brookes which is not a part of the elite Oxford Uni, It is one of the 'new' unis! However DAA students are accepted all over the world into some the best universities, one girl in my DD's year is at Yale.

Thanks for your responses! Keep 'em coming :-) My DD is studying at Oxford Brookes and went to DAA (IB Diploma), her BF at uni is also from Dubai (not that they knew each other before going to the UK!) and she went to DC (A Levels). HTH! She must be the only student from DAA to make it into Oxford. Oxford Brookes is not the same as Oxford University. It is a 'new' university. Cornish Pixie - how funny your dd has a bf from Dubai! I guess they've a lot in common :-)

Suggest you look at the schools websites - I know Dubai College has leavers destinations on theirs.
