Yr10 Work Experience - Vet?

Been told by the school to approach companies to get our teenager work experience for a week as part of the Year 10 curriculum.

Has anyone done this with a vet? DS 'thinks' he wants to go to Veterinary School so we'd like to give him the chance to see it in action. Hopefully if he firms up that he is sure - it will encourage him to really push for the required grades.

Any advice would be great.

Vetcare at the AR Polo Club take on students. Some of them have been there for a while and seem older so perhaps more sure of doing Vet Science/

I hadn't thought about standards!! Thanks. Good point. Oh yes they differ hugely!! Has your son got any thoughts as to which field he would like to go into? That will also have an influence on choice.

Thanks JJ - I will start with the closest ones and then branch out. I was really wondering if anyone else has already done this with a Vet. I am curious to know how many companies are willing to do this here. Most of the kids I know are going to work with their dads which seems like a cop out for the school for the week to me. It depends on the insurance and regulations of the practice. Also don't just send to the nearest one, send to one where the Vets are from the country your DS is mostly likely to go to Vet school. The standards differ.

Approach a good small animal clinic here, ie try the Vet Hospital or Nad Al Sheba vets and ask.
