My toddler who has always been a great sleeper is suddenly petrified of going to sleep in her cot and I have no clue why. She is so tired and has gone from 3 hr nap to 30 mins with a lot of crying beforehand. She clings on to me as i put her in. She used to be ok at bedtime but now she is fighting that as well and it's causing her to wake early...has this happened to anyone else? I haven't a clue what to do!

Hi duddym, I experienced the exactly same thing! my son was a great sleeper by 6 months or so; and suddenly at about 18 months, he became a monster at nap/bed time. I read that it is quite common and it is something that some kids develop at that age (which did not solve my frustration!) Tried everything: light on, stars, music, change routine, change back routine, gave more milk, less milk, more food, you name it! What worked for us in the end was to move him to a big bed (we did not have space for a toddler bed so the spare double bed had to do!). We bought bed guards and put extra padding on gaps to ensure that he didnt roll down and hurt himself. He is 2 now, he still fights specially at night time, but it is much easier. hope this helps :)
