We've been dealing with this for a bit. DS telling us no or demanding something that turns into him yelling what he wants finished with OKAY??!!

I asked his teacher today and it sounds like he's an angel at school.

Not sure what to do. We tell him enough, time outs, say no or stop it, ignoring, trying not to lose it.

It doesn't sound weird at all H.A.K. I've actually stopped and thought about how we speak to him after I read your comment. DH jumps to yelling more I find after work... maybe because he's tired of asking others over and over again to do something. I tried to talk calmly and quieter. There is definitely a difference between being stern and yelling. I'm hoping he's just at a stage since I've noticed one of the other boys in his nursery class pouts some in the mornings, and DS's little bro is becoming more active and getting into his things more.

I know this is going to sound weird, but how do you respond? How do you/your husband ask for things at home? I find my DD is a mirror, but she also amplifies whatever she observes. One bit of advice I read somewhere was to actually lower your voice when they shout. Speak more quietly - get really up close and talk in a quiet, normal voice. Don't try and speak over them, but make eye contact and just say quietly and calmly "I hear you, but I would like you to speak in a normal voice" or "I can't understand when you shout, speak normally and I will be able to understand what you're saying"... more often than not, they will calm down and tell you properly. That's certainly what Her Ladyship does now! I also make sure to always listen when she asks me something or tells me something in a normal voice. After all, they're shouting because they feel their message isn't getting across!
