8 1/2 month old suddenly chucking a wobbly before naps...
Hi ladies,
Wondering if anyone has been through anything similar? A few of you know my DS's sleep history, but in the last 2-3 months he's become a champion sleeper - 12 hours at night at about 3-3.5 hours during the day over 2 naps. During this time he also was happy to be put down awake in his cot for naps and after about 5-10 mins of playing would just go to sleep (sometimes even less). However the last few days he has gone ballistic everytime I've put him down for a nap! He's totally happy and fine while he's up, and happy as larry when he wakes up, but as soon as I pop him down, draw the curtains and walk out he starts to cry and yell and bang his feet up and down :( after 10 mins or so (once for 20 mins with Mummy being a pack of nerves in the other room watching on the video monitor) he goes to sleep and sleeps beautifully. Today I tried staying in there for a few minutes to reassure and pat/shush etc but that only seemed to make him angrier so I just walked out and 10 mins later he was asleep.
Could this be developmental? Am I doing the right thing just trying to ignore it? There doesn't seem to be anything physically wrong with him. He could be teething but I've found that putting some bonjela on or using teething powders makes no difference at all...and he is very happy when he's awake.
Any advice? Not sure how much longer I can take this...I hate hearing him so upset :(
PS - he's still sleeping well at night. Occaisonally wakes but after a few mins finds his dummy and settles back to sleep.
