Acupressure massage to induce labour??? Anyone ever tried this or know of anywhere that I can try it?
Obviously looking for someone reputable and recommended! I've never had it done before but am getting to the point of clutching at straws!

My Consultant told me last week that she's going on hols for the week of my due date....I really don't want to meet some new doctor in labour. She's happy to induce me next week before she goes but I would rather try everything I can to get things moving myself rather than be induced!
TIA :)

I used a TENS machine at accupressure points on my inside ankles, got the info from Zita West Natural Pregnancy book. Went into labour at 4am the next day... BUT, I was also bouncing on my birthing ball, eating curry, using aromatherapy & herbs to induce labour... So can't be sure WHICH one did the trick????? Good Luck!!!

Thanks a mill ladies for your responses....back with my own OB doc on Saturday so gonna see what story is then & early next week gonna try the acupuncture! Think I'm going to let nature take it's course & just hope that my own doctor is here for the delivery. Decision made.....but come on babba, we wanna meet you (& also take all this pressure off my hips!!! Lol)

I tried it for the first time today. I'm due at the weekend, but a C-Sec is looming so thought i'd give it my best shot and try whatever i can. No joy yet but it made me feel nice and relaxed if nothing else.

Gra...try anything that feels comfortable for you, but remember that your baby will come when your baby is ready. ;) There is no conclusive evidence that any of the *tricks* actually work in bringing on labour before your body is ready. Try not to worry about whether your OB will be there or not. Even if the OB you know is not available, there will be someone around to take care of you and baby. Believe me, many women in labour don't pay any attention to anyone who's in the room with them. ;) Most OB's only swan in and out of the room then leave you to it anyway. It's the midwives and doulas who do the real work. :D

Yes I went to her for the last three weeks of my pregnancy. She was lovely and it was very relaxing after the needles were in! I was 5cm on my due date and had a speedy labour - so I like to think it helped a bit! Good luck
