hi ladies wonder if anyone of you ladies could give me any advice.

i found out i was pregnant last week, had have a little bit of spotting (not much) and what feels like period pains... went to dr shiva at medcare today she did a scan and said my yolk sac seems to be large for 6 weeks along- too early to detect a heartbeat.

they took a blood test and i have to go back in 48 hours for another one.

obviously i need to wait for the tests to come back but im wondering if any of you ladies have had the same thing and what was the outcome?

hi ladies, update: i saw Dr Yamini at welcare today who i have seen a few times (i wasnt pleased with the lack of info from medcare) she did another scan and said the sac was of normal size but couldnt see a fetal pole. she did another blood test and matched them up with my results from monday and there was a 60% increase which is great news. internal scan tomorrow to check for the fetal pole again. fingers crossed.

Thank you so much for you reply- she didn't mention the fetal pole. She said the sack was big and I know my dates aren't wrong as I had a pretty heavy period on 28th august. I have a feeling that the outcome isn't going to be a good one but I will just wait for the blood tests to come back. My MIL is a midwife and she said that the signs don't seem great but there is still a possibility. I have only been off the pill for 2 months so at least I know that I can get pregnant. Thank you for your message. X

Hi cakes I have been debating whether to respond, as I don't want to upset you, but it is horrible also to not get a reply to an emotional question, so here goes: So sorry you are having some spotting. It is horrible to see, speaking as someone who has had bleeding in every pregnancy (I have had 6 - not all successful). 6 weeks is very early. Did Dr. Shiva see the fetal pole? I think at this stage you will only see a sac and fetal pole, as it a bit too early to see a heartbeat. If there was no sign of a fetal pole and the sac was empty and large, it could be a blighted ovum, which would mean the pregnancy wouldn't continue. I don't mean to be so negative, but sadly I have been down this road too many times. However, everyone is different, and it may be that your dates are off and it is just not as far along as you thought, which I really hope is the case. Anyway, I am not a doctor - just talking through my own experience. Lots of luck for your blood test results. It is a agonising wait. I hope I haven't upset you. All the very best.
