Hello, I know there's quite a few of us Al Zahra soon to be moms out there. Just wondering if anyone has been successful signing up for any of their upcoming antenatal classes? I've been ringing them all week and don't get a call back and no info on their website either. Dr. Yamini mentioned there may be classes starting in March. Would love to know dates/times/cost (: TIA

Hi, wanted to bump up this thread as I was unable to attend the last class. Has anyone attended a class there? I understand the class in only 2 hours. Was it worth the time and money? Can you give an idea of topics covered? Thanks!

I'm sorry to take advantage of the thread but I need to ask a question about Al Zahra antenatal Packages. Do any of you have an antenatal package? My question regards the counsaltations and what you do in each. i.e. do you get a scan every month in each visit? I will be booking an antenatal Package at Al Zahra next week and have visited to aks about this matter. They hav etold me that you do get a scan every month (included in the package) but everyone I have asked (in other hospitals) tell me that they do not get a scan every month or are getting charged extra. I could really use your knowledge, as I'm used to having a scan every month (this is the case back home) and it is scary not to!!! edited by NP on 18/02/2014 Hi NP, I purchased the antenatal package from 12 weeks (and am now 37). A scan every month is definitely not included nor is it necessary. However, I have definitely had more scans than I would have had in Australia. Dr Yamini tends to do a quick scan more often than not just to check out how baby is doing or in the earlier days when he heart rate was hard to hear with just the doppler. You won't get charged any extra if the doctor does extra scans. In Australia the last scan you have in the public system is 20 weeks and in the private system there is an extra one at 34 weeks. You definitely don't need one every month. Hope that helps.

The package (5,000aed) I purchased includes a variety of blood tests (such as hemoglobin, blood grouping, HIV, Rubella, etc) and urine tests. It also includes 12 doctors visits, one Glucose test, 20 week anomaly scan and 2 Ultrasound screenings. So I would say you were misinformed, the package does not cover a scan every month. I am considered high risk due to high blood pressure and other issues so the doctor monitors me closely and does an ultra sound scan at every visit. Since the package only covered 2 scans, I am now charged an additional 250aed for each. I'm sure if you feel more comfortable having a scan every visit you can ask the doctor to do it but will prob have to pay the additional costs out of pocket. best of luck...HTH edited by caligurl on 18/02/2014

The next one is running on the first Saturday in March. They only run once per month, first Saturday of every month. I remember thinking the cost was very reasonable but can't remember how much they told me. I'm hopefully going to the March one too. You need to get onto Sally re booking. Thanks for the reply. I'll keep trying to get through!
