My 8 month old started solids 2 months ago, she has broken out in hives on several occasions since then, mostly after eating raw fruit but yesterday after custard (so reaction to dairy or egg, despite having had yoghurt previously and hard boiled egg previously without reaction?). I'm finding the entire process quite challenging and obviously also worried about further/worsening allergic reactions.

What are the processes/options for allergy testing at this age, I'm in Doha not the UAE so have posted a similar thread on the Qatar board to find out where I can get tests done but I have no real idea what tests to ask for.

I can't comment from personal experience but I've also heard great things about Dr Loubser at Infinity Clinic so perhaps he would be able to advise you well Kiwispiers. I had also come across these places in the past while researching other things (may be only for adults, not sure), perhaps you can look them up: http://www.dubaihtc.com/food-intolerance-allergies-test-dubai-immune/ http://www.emirateshospital.ae/services/allergy-clinic.html http://www.thehealingzone.net/pages/therapies/allergy-and-intolerance-testing.php good luck, as others have said hopefully it's just a phase your baby will grow out of!

I dont think they test at this age as reactions are rather common and most tend to just go away with time. My daughter is four now but out of seven of my antenatal group three of the babies had a problem with fruits/diary. They switched to alternatives milks/fruits and generally grew out of it by one and a half or two. My daughter had stomach issues with the milk and others had reactions like your 8 month old. Sometimes the reaction from one thing can actually set off a reaction to something else they eat and if you eliminate the one that is actually causing the problem the other will be fine. I think it is a matter of finding out exactly what is causing the reaction and then just eliminating it for a few months. Dr Loubser at Infinity is very good so maybe you do a phone call appointment if you dont have any luck with the doctors in Doha?? I am not sure if he does those types of appointments but worth a try to give them a call and ask? You could just get some general information re allergies from him. Good luck and dont worry it is very common at this age! Parkernz, I would have to agree with you, my daughter came up with hives too with certain foods when she was being weaned. I went to a doctor who basically said she would more than likely outgrow the allergies, which she did! She even had a reaction to cashews which she outgrew too (had her tested for allergies before moving to Dubai, she is now 3). I found it quite worrying at the time to be honest so i think its great advice that kiwispiers at least call Infinity to relieve her concerns and so they can advise her the best way to handle the weaning process going forward.

Found this link, it's based in the UAE so not sure how much it will help but it appears they deal with paediatric immunology and allergy http://www.ihcdubai.com/immunology-and-allergy/ Good luck, it must be a real worry for you
