Antenatal packages - claiming them back - experiences please!
We're getting different answers from our insurance company and the hospital so I would really appreciate feedback from all of you lovely pregnant people, and mummies, as to how you went about paying for your scans, tests and appointments.
We are currently being seen at American Hospital and are due to have our 12 week scan and blood tests etc next week. The hospital has said that our insurance comapany (BUPA/OIC) will only allow us to have diurect billing on a treatment-by-treatment basis, they will not authorise direct billing of the antenatal package. BUPA Intl have confirmed to us that they do no pay for treatment in advance, so no we cannot direct bill a package, even though it is cheaper for them (and us paying 20% co-pay) in the long run.
We are therefore trying to weigh up whether it is worth the risk of buying the package ourselves and then trying to claim it back months down the line once all of the treatments are complete. Has anyone done this? We even wonder of it may well be cheaper for us do do this even if we can't claim back than paying 20% of each test/scan/appointment every time... American Hospital won't give us a price list so we can't calculate the total cost to comaper it to the package!
We would really appreciate some advice - every time we call BUPA or Oman Insurance we get different answers!
