I have a nearly 7 month old. She is a good day napper (knocks wood). And sleeps ok at night, though nowhere close to through the night, she does long stretches.

I want to teach her to sleep on her own now and the most 'humane' method I've heard of seems to be this one. Cant face CIO. Doing a lot of the stuff from the 'no cry sleep solution' and some of it has worked to help her sleep better, but nothing to get her to sleep by herself.

Now my problem is that I've half heartedly tried the PU/PD but she doesn't cry, she just happy to play by herself and chatter away in her crib of i put her there. IF i stand over her and pat etc she just giggles and gets excited. :\:

What should I do? Wait for however long it takes for her to get overtired and cranky? I have no idea. Tried reading online and they just deal with what happens if the child cries. Help me! :D

Thanks Glenfidditch! I do have a lovey for her now. Will try again (tried before but don't follow through, i just go in and knock her out because i usually think thats easier to deal with than cranky crying child who'll take twice as long to put to bed). If she just keeps playing in her crib, how long do you think I should just let her be? As long as it takes?

Help me! :D Wait until you child is tired, rubbing eyes, pulling ears, then give small soft blanket or muslin, and down in the dark. Leave the room. If she doesn't cry, go about your business. If she cries, try to wait 3-5 minutes and go in. Some blah blah blah-ing and a little cry is perfectly normal.
