Some malls may have an allocated area for children under a certain age in the food court, last year Dubai Mall didn't, Mirdiff did, DCC did etc, the laws change every Ramadan with discretion and "sound and prudent judgment" you'll manage.

oh and when you are heavily pregnant you can eat/drink during Ramadan although its probably still better to be discreet if you can manage.

DS was an august baby, I didn't find the heat a problem pregnacy-wise, in fact when we went to Sweden for a week towards the end of my pregnancy and had to wear warm clothes/proper shoes I realised its much much easier getting dressed into summer clothes and flip-flops when you can't touch your toes. I was in the pool everyday which I guess is logistically a bit harder when you have toddlers unless you have a nanny. Also I found the warmth really good in terms of breastfeeding/skin-to-skin as it was easy to keep the house warm and I could bathe/massage my baby out on the balcony in the mornings without worrying about him getting cold. So there are actually lots of upsides ,I actually can't imagine having a newborn in the cold, my son is 17 months now and I take him to the park everyday with a warm hat, hoody etc, wouldn't like to have a newborn in tow with the cold wind in the late afternoon. Downside is being stuck indoors but as said, you'll end-up at softplay which will be fine for the newborn. If your car doesn't have AC in the back consider getting fans that can clip on to the carseats and summer liners for the car-seats as they can get unbearably hot making drives a bit of a nightmare.

It's going to be a long, boring summer, especially with Ramadan, but I managed - twice! I suggest looking into camps for your LO - it will be more interesting for them and give you time to rest as well. Lots of nurseries do camps for toddlers.

Hi, I gave birth to our first child at the end of June this year. Initially the weather made no difference because we were indoors most of the time anyway nursing the baby etc. Our first outing was when the baby was a week old and it was fine - so long as you have air-con in the car and air-con to where you are going, you should be ok. The main issue we had was that our baby was ill and could not spend much time outside of the house. When she finally got better, we started taking short walks to the local park (around August time) in the mornings and evenings. It was hot and my little one had a problem with sweating in the pram. I would suggest you look into heat resistant padding for your baby and toddlers (if they are still in the pram). We got some sheepskin which is specially made for infant car seats and prams. They sell these throughout Australia and although I have heard Mothercare sell them here, after several attempts, none of the store assistants were able to get one for me - actually I don't think they knew what I was talking about. As my baby is getting older, I have had to purchase a larger one and did so through this site: http://www.urbanbaby.com.au/epages/ecomm5000.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/UrbanBaby/Products/DYSSCT/SubProducts/DYSSCT-0002

Its not that bad, or I dont find it that bad. There are lots of indoor play areas where you can take your toddler to play, whilst you can sit down and relax with the new baby. Lots of activities at home, stock up on the crayons, paint , play dough, etc. Good luck.

To all the lucky ladies who have had babies in the summer. . .how was it being here over the summer months? I have toddlers also so need to think about keeping them occupied. Not an option to go home for delivery as v sick parent who probably can't / wont cope with our troop.. .so its here for the long-haul. Am anxious and nervous at the prospect of being here over the summer months, housebound with toddlers because too hot outside and possibly too big to cope with the heat. Not to mention ramadan. . Advice would be really appreciated. How did you cope? What did you do to keep little ones occupied? Also how was it after birth with newborn being housebound?
