Hi ladies,

Anyone have any tips on which formula to use for new born since i am not planning on breast feeding. Baby is due in less than 5 weeks and i would like to be some what prepared.
My sister is completly against Aptamil as she had trouble with it on both of her kids yet its seems to be readily available here in Dubai.

Please advise...thanks.

Do you have any family history of allergies, neocate hydrolised formula is supposed to be the safest in allergy prevention/easiest dgestion as the cows milk protein is completely broken down however its expensive and in some countries only available on prescription. If it were me and I couldn't breastfeed I'd try to give this at least for the first month. Are you planning/able to breastfeed at all? there are a lot of benefits to be gained from breastfeeding/pumping even for as little as a few weeks in terms of passing on antibodies and gut enzymes etc. There is also the option of donated human milk, if you google "human milk for human babies UAE" you should be able to find info on this. Aside from that, most formula brands are similar and many are made by the same companies so probably it makes sense to choose one that is always readily available.

I have used Nan with both of my children (although I also breast fed) and I haven't had any issues at all. They also have the HA hypoallergenic formula and the AR regurgitation formula as well.
