baby keeps falling asleep

So I got my baby to latch again using a SNS ( Supplemental Nursing System)from Medela, now the problem is that he falls asleep after 5 minutes, I keep waking him up but he keeps falling at sleep, after an hour he has barely drank much milk and he is so hungry so I have to give him the bottle (formula or express milk). Any tips on what to do?. He is already 3 months. He has always been like this but I was hoping by now he would stay awake and nurse properly.
