http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/forms-rates/rates/goods-services.htm gives info on vat rates on different goods, pushchairs have normal vat on them so I presume cots do. I haven't claimed since baby arrived, but I'm sure it's just the same as claiming for shoes!!

wherever you shop ask them for the forms to claim back the VAT at the airport, the shop need to complete and stamp them and then there's a desk at airports where you make the claim. you don't get the full amount back, I think when VAT was 17.5% I was able to claim back 11% what you'll need immediately post birth.... nappies, a few bodysuits and sleepsuits, blankets, soft cotton hat/mittens, somewhere for baby to sleep and boobs or bottles for feeding! If you are going to BF I would get nursing bras in the UK and get fitted for them just before you come back and get 2 or 3 in that size. If you want to use a sling, get that in the UK too, the choice is better and yu can goto a sling meet to try some out if you have time before you deliver. Oh and btw, mattress protectors can be bought in Matalan in Arabian Centre

I would get it from London way more choice and the UK always has the latest fashion/styles first, and its much cheaper.

Everything is cheaper in London. We bought our pram and as much as we could bring in our luggage. There is also more of a variety there. Another good trick is to get a travel bag for your pram and pack it with stuff. There is plenty of space. I brought back everything (sterilizer, bottles, towels, clothes, sheets, baby monitor, night lights etc) as I was in the UK for the first two months as my son was born there. I haven't been able to find a waterproof mattress protector here, but luckily I brought one from London. It might be worth thinking about it. Happy shopping!

Big things like buggies! If you have the baggage allowance for them, that is. I'm looking at the Bugaboo Bee Plus at the moment and it's GBP420 online there, but more than 3,000dhs here.
