Good for you! At least you got something. Don't feel so bad about taking the meds. At least they make something that we CAN take ;). Imagine if we couldnt take anything!!! I'm loving my once in a while Panadol for those preggo headaches ;)
Feel better soon.
I saw an ENT doc at the City Hospital and he thought it may be an infection.. I have been given amoxycillin which I was hesitating in taking for fear of harming the baby but I have now started to take now. I am actually feeling a little better today, the first in nearly two weeks.
Hey Maariyah, So mad that your doc isn't helping. Is it something like allergies? or is it worse. I just hope you get some relief soon.
I think M&S is right though. You should at least make sure of what it is before you self-soothe ;).
Take care and good luck.
So sorry i have just seen this, the only thing that was helping me was otrivine drops and like yourself kelly i am terrified of getting addicted to it. I will try the neti pot and the ayuvedic treatment as well. Wish i had seen this thread earlier as i was feeling so helpless and my gynae has been useless for me so far.
I had pregnancy rhinitus (sp?) ... basically blocked sinuses ... I used a netti pot 2-3 x a day and that calmed things down. A pain to have to do but worth it as its natural and risk free ...
I had sinus problems all my life, to the point i was using nasal sprays every day (which over long term makes things worse, so i was stuck in a cycle) I had acupuncture for something unrelated, and it totally cleared up my sinus problems overnight! I couldnt believe it! So yes, i would say if you want to try it, acupuncture would definitely help.
I have never had a sinnus before but developed one during pregnancy of my second child.
I used ayurveda and cleared it out in 2 days!
No chemicals.
U get this powder called "Rasnadi Podi" at indian supermarkets. U take 1/2 a teaspoon of this, and put it in a table spoon. The squeeze half a lemon on to the table spoon and mix the whole thing with ur finger. Heat the mixture for about a 30secs. Then apply this to the top of your head (the area where the indentation for newborns is).. and leave for 1hr.
After an hour, u can either dust it off or leave it overnight and take a bath.

I have had sinusitus when I was breastfeeding and when pregnant, and both times the Dr offered me Amoxicillin which is considered safe during pregnancy so like the others say, please go and see your Dr. I also had terrible sinus headaches and Panadol Sinus worked like a dream - my Dr checked the ingredients and said that was also fine to take in pregnancy although I only took 2 a day and only when the pain was unbearable. You could also try and nasal spray or steaming your face over a bowl of hot water, you can get rid of your blackheads at the same time, bonus!!
was taking antihisthamines last summer in europe for horrible hay fever....then I found out I was pregnant, and I stopped taking them.
Oh summer was long and horrible sinus wise last year.
Then I got back to Dubai, went to the doctor and she told that anti histhamines are fine during pregnancy....I was so mad that I didn't check. Life became a lot more comfortable after that.
If you are really against meds, you could try a saline wash too - you can buy saline nose spray at the pharmacy.
Go to a doctor and take meds. I had sinusitus for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy and i'm sure it contributed to my DS presenting like a premie baby even though he wasn't. I dropped the ball as my doc was out of the country. When i finally saw her, she put me on a antibiotic drip and then, after two day, did a c-section as my placenta has started to fail. Now, do not think this is a simple cause and effect as i had a terrible pregnancy full stop but i certainly don't think it helped at all.
Hey Maariyah. I would suggest just check with your doc. we Preggo ladies can actually take meds if we get sick, just specific ones. You also dont want to take a chance and have it turn into something else that is harmful for you or the baby later, like (pnemonia or bronchitis).
Feel better soon. :)
