Can i re-use the baby jars to put food that i have made in?? And can i then freeze them??

Hi Livina, I may be wrong, but don't the instructions on the jar say not to re-use the lids? hi! i just checked on 3 different brands and didnt see that BUT maybe it is better to be safe than sorry, one could probably use tinfoil over with elastic or clingwrap in stead of the caps? I have been doing this for around 3 months (using jars again) but I am slowly starting to wean DS off the smooth food and trying to get him to eat junks and pieces so I will in anycase stop cooking in bulk and only use storebought as back up whilst giving the solids that we eat at dinner. If you think about it, the caps are metal....so I imagine it is maybe not all that good hey.....and so we learn.:-) xxx Yes, I strongly believe parenting is trial and error! ;)

I do. but I dont reuse to longer than a few weeks....then i toss them and use new ones as i still buy the jars as well... i found if i dont fill it up fully it doesnt "swell" so much...only had one shatter but my own stupidity. Not sure if is shouldnt use them but so far it hasnt been a problem.... i make sure i wash the jars and lids in the dishwasher as it steams clean. If anyone has a reason for knowing this is a bad idea.....pls shout......tx!!!!

Hi SB!! :) long time! Yes, don't use the jars to freeze, they will shatter. You can re-use them however. The only problem is that the lids are not recommended for re-use :( HTH :) edited by ashc on 06/09/2011
