Last year I went into labour early (24 weeks) and I had my little girl early who unfortunately passed away 5 weeks later. My cervix shortened to 0.5cm. I have been advised that next pregnancy I need to have a cerclage placed. Has any one any experience of this in Dubai? If so who did you use and at what stage did you have it placed? Thank you

Hi Almac I went into labour with an incompetent cervix at 23 weeks my OB at that time said she could not do anything and literally left my baby to die. I was admitted at City hospital at that time and we decided to fight with everything and the only doctor willing to take the risk and do the stitch was Dr. Azizunissa. As kelly1814 says she is the head of the department and I too had hardly any cervix left no other doctor in Dubai was willing to take my case for obvious reasons. My stitch was successful but I did develop an infection a few weeks later which was a risk which we knew we were facing. My daughter was delivered prematurely and I owe both our lives to Dr. Azizunissa. I'm sorry about your previous loss I hope and pray your pregnancy goes well.

Hi Alimac , Sad to hear about your little girl. For my second pregnancy in 2011 , I had a to get a cerclage at 28 weeks as the baby was ver low and my cervix length had reduced. It was done by Dr. Janki at Welcare Hospital. I was on complete bed rest after that. I delivered on the next day after it was removed. All the best to you edited by sunrays on 11/01/2014

alimac, i am so sorry for your loss. i have hardly any cervix (less than .5 cm in places) due to lletz procedures. when pregnant i knew i would have to have a stitch. i went to city hospital and saw dr azizunissa. she is head of the department and an absolute expert in stitches. other doctors have confirmed that very few people could stitch my cervix as there is literally hardly anything left. she is very highly skilled. i had my stitch at 15 weeks. i cannot recommend her enough. i delivered my baby girl at 36 weeks with dr aziz, if not for her, she would not be here at all. i do remember how utterly terrifying it was so if you ever need to chat, just let me know.
