Hi there
I'm new to the forum and was looking for some advise or handy hints re baby clothing. I am due to deliver at the end of August so the weather will be hot but inside should be cool with a/c. I'm unsure as to what to dress the baby in for overnight and how many blankets I should use. Parents back in the UK have advised dressing the baby in a sleeveless vest then a babygrow with a couple of cellular blankets for warmth but that's for the UK!
Nobody seems to know in the stores and they try and sell me all kinds of stuff!

Advise would be highly appreciated! :-)
:)

It depends on your room temp with the AC on. Ours is usually at 20 degrees for nighttime as I prefer a cool room to sleep in, and is quite "blowy" when it kicks in so feels cold. My 3mo sleeps in a vest (sleeveless or short sleeves) and a babygro/onesie (full arms and legs), and until recently one light blanket (eg cellular cotton). She's graduated into a 1 tog sleeping bag instead of the blanket but still wears a vest & onesie. Also we never swaddled - not sure if they wear less if you swaddle. No hat at night after the first 1-2 days. For daytime she wore the same as at night for the first 6 weeks or so, now she wears leggings & either short sleeve or long sleeve vest depending on how hot it is. If it's really warm we ditch the leggings!

Thanks so much for your replies! Do you mean the support group as in this forum or is it something else? Cheers edited by Warey on 07/04/2014

my DD was born in september and it was still quite hot outside.. but we stayed indoors most of the time and it tends to be quite cool.. so for the first 4 months my baby was in overalls.. and would be swaddled with a thin swaddle sheet.. i got most of my newborn to 3 months clothes from baby shop.. carters also have great sales and their clothes are very cute.. a baby should be comfortable and you can be the thermometer.. i would always dress my DD the same layers as i would wear.. its also not good to make the baby sweat from warmth which could cause rashes over the body.. stack on onsies, overall and swaddles.. also get mittens so that the baby doesnt scratch itself since you won't be able to cut the nails until later.. you'll get better responses.. if you can contact the dangerous blonde she has great advice as well.. and the support group for babies here is great :)
