Hi Shaf, Don't worry, there are no dumb questions. This is a big thing so you need to be all informed. On this website you can get a lot of information about IVF, sample calendars, protocols, etc. http://www.advancedfertility.com/ To answer your questions, here is what I did twice: 1. This probably varies person to person. I can feel ovulation every month (sometimes very painful) without any stimulation on normal days. So for me the stimulation felt like mega ovulation lasting for days. After the retrieval I was sore a little bit and lifting heavy weight (like 10kg LO) didn't feel good but other than that I was fine. 2. Outside UAE so I can't help with that. 3. 10k USD approx 4. There are different protocols. I did the long protocol twice (you can see this in the sample calendar too on the above website) - 3 weeks contraception - last day of the pill start the Lupron injection in your tummy once a day (down regulation to "hold your ovaries back") - 2nd day of your period start the stimulation (2nd injection to your tummy at night) THe lenght and quantity of this depends on how you respond to the stimulation. If you respond well you won't need it too long. For me it took 10 days (that's long) - Last day of the injections you give yourself HCG shot - Two days later you have egg retrieval. This is a minor operation and you sleep during the retrieval. This time your DH gives his sample - 3-4-5 days after the retrieval you have the embryo transfer. The number of days depend on the embryo quality. The transfer is like a long pap smear with VERY full bladder. Quite uncomfortable in my opinion because they are pressing hard on your full bladder :-) - After this you go home and try to take it easy and weight and weight and weight for two weeks to get your pregnancy test done. 5. Yes there is. Usually they say that under 35 you have better chances. This also depends on your ovarian reserve and quality of your eggs. Some people can have low reserve as young as 25 (but very rare). Sorry for the long post. I've just finished a cycle last week and the memories are still fresh so I thought I'd share them with you. Good luck!

Sorry, but I dont know anyone whose done ivf personally, and I can see few women here have done it and there is someone i know whose considering it. I just a had a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer. 1 - Is it painful? 2 - Which doctors here do it? Ie, whose highly recommended? 3 - How much does it cost approx? 4 - er.. wat exactly do they do? 5 - Is there any age group for which this is more successful or something like that? Sorry if the Qs are a bit dumb but I have no clue abt ivf apart from what the full form of it is.
