... was today. He is 25months old.
He stayed for all of 1 hr and then i had to get him cos he was crying a lot.
I go thru so much trauma putting him to sleep (if u have read my previous sleep thread u wud know).. and yet, he fell asleep in the CAR at 10:30am!!!!!!
I am thinking he must've been so upset with being at playschool.. and it dint help i guess that there were other kids crying also.
Think tomorrow will be better? :(

We are in Doha, so i doubt u'd know the nursery :) He's been doing 3.5hrs since this week and its going great. He brought home some fab art work today :) When I drop him in the morning he clings and then cries for about 10mins.. after that he is fine. I dont think i;ll hit 4hrs yet.. maybe another week or so before i decide to do that :)

Right for those watching this thread :) Last week was awful, he cried so much. One of the days I sat with him a full 45 mins before they threw me out. :) Only on day 3 did he stay for 2hrs.. else it was only 1hr. Interestingly, he would tell ppl who came home about school, and also at night when we slept he would tell us he had school the next day. Also on the weekend he had a a surprised look on his face that we dint take him to school. Today, start of week 2, however was excellent. He did cling to me at the stairs, and then was crying when i left him at class. But i called them 15mins later and they said he was fine. In fact the nursery is so nice, that thy actually indulge me when i call every 30mins. He was there from 8:30-12:00. At 12 when i went to pick him, i was watching him for a few mins from the door and he definitely seemed alright. He definitely hadnt cried for more than an hour from his face. And when he finnaly saw me he was happy and smiling and gave me hug (unlike last week when he wud burst into tears and come cling on to me). In short, I think what worked was that I actually gave him some time today to spend in his class. I highly recommend that if u can stay with your child for even 1hr the first day, do it. The first week is hard.. but from week 2, be strong and they just adapt :)

First days are difficult and heart-breaking. Give it couple of weeks, do not give up. I had to put my boys to school full day 5 days a week at very young ages and first days were quite terrible. But then they got into the routine, they love the nursery, have lots of friends, learned so much it is amazing, and want to go there even on weekends!! It is all part of the process of growing up I guess.

I agree i have heard its an easier transition if they go for an hour everyday for the first few weeks and then lengthen. My friends have done this, i am yet to start. DD1 will be starting in Sept too. Good luck!

I have to start my LO in september as I'm going to be working. Not sure how its going to work as he's basically attached to my hip.... not my choice that he is.

Poor wee boy and poor Mummy. I haven't been through this yet but yes, from what I have heard it is common and will definitely get better, breaks my heart just thinking about it:(. Apparently it is better to go every day, for a short period than only a few times per week, so he can get used to it. It might be easier on him if Daddy could drop him off?
