In summer, you can still use it in the malls as the AC is on but not outside. Once I had my DD in it for an 8 hour plane journey. She slept through the whole journey, only waking up to bf, which I did with the sleep hood. I love it so much I don't think I can ever depart with it.
I have the original one and love it. It is hot, and wouldn't use it in summer here. Having said that now she is walking ( just) I think I will only really use it when traveling.
I also have the original and am v pleased with it... It does get hot though :( The only thing i wished I had bought was the teething bars that you can fit on to them as when they get older they chew the cloth! Enjoy it...
I also have the original which is fantastic. This weekend I discovered I could even BF 15 wk old DD whilst walking around the mall with her in it. She was happy as anything. All you need to do is make sure you have a shirt that you can pull to one side and I draped a scarf down the side so no one could see anything (and I was just making certain - this probably wasn't even necessary).
Yeah I have also seen many videos of women BF their little ones by using the Ergo Sleep Hood :)

Thanks for the replies ladies:) will definitely get the original then.
But will try to maybe find a secondhand one first. So if anyone is selling an ergo please let me know.
Hope you find someone who will sell you their's..sadly they are very to hard to come by on classifieds.I know because I kept looking for a second hand one on dubizzle and other classifieds for weeks but never came across one.
But then again that shows that not a lot of people are selling them, as they are so good :)

Another huge Ergo fan here :)
I have the Ergo Original and have used it with DS since he was 6 weeks old (with the infant insert). I also have the Baby Bjorn which I like for now but dont think I would be able to use it once DS is over 8-9 kgs.Where as have used the Ergo with my 18 months old niece with no problems..and I do have a bad back.
HTH
Ergo baby carrier was the best thing I ever bought for my baby. Those of you who have back pain after an hour or two, please try back carry like piggyback. I walked around global village for 3 hours with baby on my back and came home with NO PAIN/extra weight feel at all. If I carry her at the front, I do get tired after an hour or so. I have the original version.
Oh thanks happymommy, so now I know the sport is not much cooler... but is the comfort level the same in both (I noticed the sport hip part is more contoured), also is the shoulder padding the same in both? Thanks again:)
So would you advice I go for the Original? my 6 month old is almost 8kg and likes to carried a lot!
I got the Sports one when DD was born. Used it with the infant insert at first and later without. DD and I both loved it. Then I lost it on the plane during Xmas holidays. :(
Got the Classic one from Babysouk and love it even more! The attachment of the hood is better on the classic and a couple of other details (hip buckle on the side instead at the back...)
I never felt that DD got too hot in either of them. Obviously you wouldn't be walking around outside in mid June in Dubai with it...
DD is 14 months now and over 10kg. I still carry her around in it a lot. She loves the hip position now. It never hurt my shoulders but as KC said the weight makes you really tired after a while. I get a general back pain after around half an hour to 1 hour. But DD loves it and still falls asleep in it when we're out and about and no bed in sight for naptime. It's an absolute lifesaver on the plane, too.
Only when its hot outside does she (and me too) feel hot. At home, i used to put her in and dance to her used to it. She falls asleep in it regularly but also screams to be taken out once in a while.
Sometimes I wish we had a front facing one, but I believe ergonomically they are not good for the kids.
I honestly have not had any probs carrying her for any period of time. She weighs 9 kgs now and I get tired with the extra weight after walking for a while, but it does not hurt my shoulders or back. The longest we kept her in the ergo was at BangKok airport from the airplane to the taxi (about 30 mins). It was a breeze.
Thanks Kcinthecity:) Do you find it too hot (in an enclosed area with AC's on), also for how long can you carry your baby before getting tired or shoulders hurting (what is your baby's weight)? sorry for asking too many questions... but just don't want to end up buying one more carrier and not using it much!
I think I have the original (its green). I wanted the sport but to be honest, it did not seem as secure to me as the original. THank God for it as DD hates her pram and the ERGO helps A LOT.
... Which Ergo is your favorite: Original, Sport, Performance or Organic? and why...
I want to buy one for my 6 month old, and most important factor is comfort.
