So...both DH and I decided we wouldn't send our DS to nursery until around age two or three. He is almost 16 mths and all his little friends are starting nursery :( We do swimming and a music class and I'm looking into a few other classes...plus I take him to play spaces but most of the time the kids there his age are with nannies....its so hard to find any other mums with kids of a similar age for play dates....is anyone else in this position too? I keep getting asked whether I am going to put him in nursery for the social aspect which seems unnecessary at this age....he is developing so well without nursery, already says 20+ words and is a happy outgoing child.
Sorry...just having a vent...would love to meet any other mums not going to nursery yet who are interested in play dates!

Flydiver, sure oct sounds good. Tabloid, definitely drop me an email. Enjoy your trip to Oz. We tried a great class on Mon called Moms and Tots which he loved. I totally agree with you...my DS is very social already and I really dont think nursery is necessary right now for him. Maybe later down the track when we have number 2 but we'll see!

Hi Sydneygal, honestly i never put DD1 in nursery until she went to school. I also had the same thing which nursery ect? Why isnt she in? DD1 is very articulate, very well socialised and i was the same as you. Play dates, classes, play areas to cover all the necessary developmental areas. I didnt feel putting her in a nursery with 20 other children would make her more social then her meeting with 3 or 4 other little ones. Just my oppinion. At that age they dont really interact that much anyways. I now have a 21 month old aswell and will do the same with her, no nursery until school. I am also in JBR. But going back to Oz shortly for a holiday till start of Nov, but would love to get together when im back. :) Can i shoot you an email aswell?

My little guy isn't going to nursery either, however I work so can't make make regular classes, so I worry he's missing out. We'd love to meet up if you are free. DS is 17 months old and no where near 20 words, so I think your little one will put him to shame, but he'd love some more little friends his own age to play with :)

My DD is also 16 months and would love to get her to interact with other kids her age a bit more as her older brother is now back at nursery. So would definitely be interested in playdates. Guess it just depends what area of town....We're the Meadows/Marina end of town.
