Experiences with midwives in Dubai

My doctor has given me the option to deliver in one of the two hospitals. I think the most important aspect for me to decide would be the quality of care provided by the midwives since the doctor will only come right at the end, and I feel the guidance of a good midwife would be really important to ensure a smooth labour. Would anyone like to share a good or a bad experience with their midwife in Dubai. It would be great if you could mention the hospital name.

Hi Foodie, I delivered at American Hospital and had a wonderful midwife there, an Australian and by the end of it, I didn't even want my doctor to come back.

Thanks Ladies! I guess the midwives at both City and American sound decent from your responses. I am trying to pick between the two.

I am one of the few in Dubai (I think) to have a midwife delivery. It was not planned that way but bubs decided to surprise us not long after I arrived at the hospital. I was lucky to have the same dr, midwife and baby nurse (and delivery room) for my two girls - could not fault them and had great experiences both times at City Hospital.

There is a team of midwives at The Cooper Clinic. I have met two of them whilst I have been having my appointments and they seem very nice British and Irish and they spoke of another lady too. I think it will be more common here now.

I delivered in the American Hospital 4 years ago and the midwife there was superb. A lovely Yorkshire lady and I can't remember her name now! How annoying. Anyway, I would have been more than happy for her to give birth to DD as she was medically trained in the UK and knew exactly what she was doing. It just so happened that Doctors shift had just started so got him to catch DD.

I can't give advice on midwives but I have heard Al Zahra hospital in Barsha has an excellent reputation for midwives and deliveries in general
