First Pregnancy in Dubai

I have just found out that my husband and I are expecting our second baby in December. Our first was born in the Uk so I have no idea what the next steps are in Dubai. DH's medical insurance covers maternity care over here (that much we know). SO what next? Do I just contact my doctor and take it from there as I would have done in the UK? I'm feeling a little uneasy with this at the moment so any advice and/or experiences shared would be very much appreciated!

TIA

Congratulations! Yes, just find a doctor you are happy with and go from there. I stuck with my gp, and only saw an ob for the 'big' appointments, and from 36 weeks onwards. Just to add also, you don't HAVE to be scanned every time you go in :-) I certainly wasn't, and it will really eat to your insurance allocation if you do that.

Like you I had my second baby here after having my first in the UK. I came out here mid-way into my pregnancy. I simply rang Welcare hospital and made an appointment with Dr Pace Marcus. He is excellent. Once you have found a doctor, he/she will guide you through the process. Unlike the NHS where all routine appointments are with the midwife, here all appointments are with the Doctor and you get scanned almost every time you go in. Hope this helps. Good luck!
