Formula or milk....

Hi ladies....so DS is now 1 and currently still has Aptamil Comfort Stage 1 formula. He has about 150ml with breakfast in a beaker and a full bottle before bed. During the day he has cheese/yogurt/milk based sauces and eats a wide variety of proteins, fruits and vegetables. I am in two minds about whether to continue formula or start introducing cows milk as a drink. I kept him on Stage 1 formula for reasons that has often being discussed here....closer to breastmilk etc and also because DS was and is a great eater so I knew he was getting the extra vitamins and minerals needed from food.
Last week he had his 1 year vaccs and his doc advised going onto a Stage 3 12 month formula for the next 4-6 months. However I can only see an Aptamil Stage 3 not a Aptamil Comfort Stage 3. And I also noticed it's vanilla flavoured which I'm not keen on him getting used to as well as very high in lactose compared to the formula he's on.
So my questions are....have any Aptamil Comfort users moved onto normal Aptamil Stage 3 and how did that go? Should I just stick to Stage 1 and slowly mix with normal organic cows milk to eventually just swap to that? What to do?

i think once they are old enough to start solids they are old enough for non-boiled water. I've never given DS boiled water, just straight from the water cooler.

hi ladies, thanks! Will start slowly mixing his formula with cows milk....I have about 3 tins left of formula so will do it slowly and hopefully by the time I'm finished we should be good to go. Kiwis, he only has milk now first thing and at bedtime so during the day just has water which is easier. Water-wise....he is still having boiled water....when do they start being able to take bottled water?

I reckon stick to the stage one and slowly transition to regular milk, no hurry. His weight is good, he eats well and his diet is varied already so he doesn't need the extra iron etc and there is lots of extra **** in the later stage stuff (like flavorings, sweetners etc) so why bother. It might be convenient to do cows milk at home and formula when out and about (as don't have to keep it chilled).

We used Aptamil Comfort 1 for DD till she was I think 7-8 months only (weaning to solids stage) due to constipation and colics, but later we just moved to next stage Aptamil and didn't have any problems. If your DS is already over 1 y.o., why don't you try introducing normal cow's milk and see what happens. It will be easier and cheaper in the long run :) Also, some children don't like milk, but come to love laban and there is nothing wrong with it as long as they get all their vitamins
