Thanks for ur reply hello again kitty, this was prescribed by my gynae and she knows i bresstfeed. I also rang her today and asked her to change and is it possible.its affecting dd and she said it wouldnt be. Im just confused and want to stop the pain dd is going through, i have to take this medication for another 5weeks. Just wondering if anyone had been through the same. Hmm... unless there's absolutely no other similar product on the market, I would push to change it. If it's not affecting bubs, then you'll soon find out and can change back, no?

Can you not try changing medication (with the advice of a Dr)? I'd also say to only take medicines when the dr advises it, and to avoid over-the-counter self-medication. It's quite probably that it's passing through your breastmilk - most things do, after all.

DD2 is 2months old. Expressed breast fed 7 out of 8 feeds per day. Same formula for top up at night. Last sat i started taking diflucan. Sunday DD started to be really really unsettled, crying, stomach firm but not hard, finally she pooped. It was very thick and orange creamy in colour and texture. This was after a few hours of on off crying. Then she settled. Monday same thing again took her to Dr's he said its a build up of gasses, gave me some glycerine suppositories to help pass it. Gave one and she pooped in an hour same colour and consistency. It has been on and off for the past week. Worse again Thurs (had taken more diflucan on Tues) gave suppository, she didnt poop at all. Rang Dr he said to monitor her ect. Only realised yesterday it could be linked as side effects of Diflucan are upset stomach, constipation and flatulance, (when she passes wind its terrible, like really really bad smelling which is strange considering she is almost exclusivly breast fed) sounds like what she has to me. I have googled it half say its fine to nurse with it other half say no.............What to do? I would hate for this medication to be effecting her so severly. She seems to be in so much pain. Again today is worse and i took it yesterday, also another suppository given and she still hasnt pooped. Has anyone else experienced this? What would you do?
