Has anyone recently delivered at Al Wasl Hospital? HOw busy are they? I am not too particular about the kind of room i get. Though a private room would be preferable. My DD was born there in an emergency scenario and we didnt get a pvt room. It wasnt all that bad. Everyone is as awkward as the other and keeps to themselves.
I would like to know though, whether they really give you enough time and do the check ups thoroughly. I didnt have and consultation visits there last time ( only the emergency delivery as there was a complication) Ive heard that they are very busy now and the waiting period for appointments is very long.
ANY COMMENTS?

Gogi like you I'm going to Al Wasl to deliver in June all going well. I had my DD in Medcare but this time around due to a job/insurance change we are not covered for maternity. I'm a bit shocked to hear the price per night of the NICU to be honest. I knew they would charge but that's very expensive. My DD was in the NICU for one night in Medcare and that cost 1800 Dhs so Al Wasl is much more expensive. Am wondering if going with Al Wasl instead of private is the better option after all ??? I am 21 weeks and am doing my ante natal appointments in Nad Al Sheba - little waiting time for apps really but my God the staff (reception) out there could do with a few classes in customer service. The OB/GYN was lovely though so thats all that counts really. I did have to wait for my 20 week scan as they couldn't fit me in til next week at which point I'll be 22 weeks. HTHs Curly

I think that after Al Wasl raised their prices, waiting times for appointments have gone down drastically. I never had to wait more than 10 to 20 minutes for all my appointments at the clinic or hospital. With regards to the actual delivery, I must admit although I found the medical care excellent, I also thought the bedside manner has much to be desired. I personally think the delivery wards are understaffed and as such you don't get as much attention as you would in a private hospital. However, there are some real angels over there, who will go over and beyond their call of duty. Also FYI, for those considering Al Wasl for it's NICU capability, please do note that from October last year, they've implemented a new pricing system. One night's stay at the NICU will now cost anywhere between 2200 and 3900 depending on the level care.

Hi Gogi I delivered there in October and had most of my antenatal appts there. There was occasionally a long wait for appts but I tried to get around this by always booking the first appt in the morning (usually 8am). I had been seeing a private doctor at the City Hospital up to about 12weeks and I always waited longer to see her (she is very lovely and popular though!). On the day my son was born the place was packed and I ended up on ward of four. This was fine on nights 2/3 but night 1 I was next to a very loud snorer and I really didn't get any sleep. Not good after a very long labour! I would describe my experience at AW as average to good - that makes sense. The medical care was very good but the bedside manner sometimes left a lot to be desired!! Would go there again though. Good luck.
