Exactly. According to my Paed (and Anabel Karmel!) as long as they get at least 500-700 (i think?) ml per 24hrs AND have a varied and regular solid feeding routing then thats fine. Babies who are still only 'tasting' solids, which some are at this time, should be one more mls per 24hr. DD hovers around 750ml most days, and will eat anything not nailed down so im not worried. She is already starting to lack interest in her afternoon bottle, and sometimes only takes half, so i guess as you said laura, she will let me know when she doesnt want it anymore!
My son is 6.5m
He has cereal followed by 8 0z of milk around 830am
He then has 8oz milk followed by solids (will eat pretty much anything - pureed or not) if pureed he has approx 6 cubes. If normal food i normally put 2-3 tablespoon heaps in. This is around 1-1.30
He will then have solids (same as above but generally a smaller quantity here) with water or juice from sippy cup.
Then he has an 8 oz bottle just before bed 7.15pm.
As it has already said every baby is different.
I asked the same question you have only a week ago - then he had 4 bottles in total as well as solids and i was worried i was over feeding - he let me know when he was ready to drop it. Your little one will too.

Heh, she's a hungry girl! As has been said, every baby is different. Some will want more, some will want less, so its hard to judge one against the other.
HI LD. DD is 6.5 months her routine is:
Breakfast: Fruit puree, porridge and 180ml formula (porridge made with milk from the 180ml)
Mid Morning: 210ml formula
Lunch: 2 cubes veg/meat, 2 cubes fruit, plus juice/water
Mid afternoon: 210ml formula
Tea: 2 cubes veg/meat (Whatever she didnt have earlier) 1 cube fruit with yoghurt plus juice/water
Bed time 210ml formula
Hope this helps.
oh wow.. isn't that alot for a 6.5mnth old?
I think if you look on a formula can it should have a recc daily intake, which you could apply to your EBM. DS was BF so not sure on amount, but he fed often, probably like 40mL every hour at a very rough guess by day with a couple of big feeds in the night. When he was feeding for longer amounts less often, he would spit up a lot, so I think some of them can't handle so much in their tummy and little feeds during the day might be better.
He started solids at 6 1/2 months and was really into them, so I ended up giving him quite large amounts quite soon, like 6-8 cubes at a time 3 times a day by 7 1/2 months but it was only because he cried when I took the bowl away, and followed me around grabbing my ankles if I was eating. I don't think you are technically meant to give that much at that age as it might replace milk, you could always mix the EBM with the food to avoid that I guess if solids work out better. I was always tempted to make BM custard but could never be bothered pumpng that much.
I think any amount of solids (no matter how small or large) is fine so long as the milk intake is good.
Every baby is different and you can't really over feed a baby at 5/6mos. Feeding can change pretty dramatically or seem to spike during a growth spurt. I BF'ed on demand and started solids at 6 months. I didn't limit liquid intake until after my kids were fully weaned at 2 years.

Can some yummy mummies please share with me how much formula/EBM your LO takes in a 24 hour period and what the meal routine looks like with or without solids? Just want to make sure I'm not overfeeding my LO.
