Annabell Karmel's books are pretty good to help you with that. Also there was another thread on here somewhere that was good about qty's etc from the Hipp organic site.
(DS just woke up so no chance to look for the thread for you sorry)
I started with Rice. Either the cerelac formula or freshly made at home. I dont know if there is an english word for it but in China and most of asia i think its called Konji. Its rice water. Very soothing for the stomach and easy to digest. I would also say 3-4 days between new foods. Pureed fruit is good too - (only one fruit at a time first). Remember not to add citrus for a while. Its acidic and will make the motions loose and increase chances of nappy rash. Apples, bananas, pears and peaches are good- poached and pureed. Be watchful to see if apples give your baby constipation and avoid bananas if theres a runny nose or cough. This worked for my baby- Hope this helps for starters. :) Just remember that babies take a few feeds worth of time to get used to a new flavour so if your little one throws it out or pushes your hand away dont give up...continue for 3 days and most likely baby will start accepting it by then.:) Its a tiring but exciting new phase- :)Good Luck!!
Up until recently, when babies were weaned actually before the gut was ready (we didn't know then what we know now), it was recommended to leave around 3 days between the introduction of new foods.
If baby has shown all the developmental signs of readiness, then the risk of allergy is not there so much. However, if allergies run in the family, you may still choose to leave a few days.
Good luck, and enjoy this new stage!
