Hi, I've just found out that I'm pregnant after my 3rd IVF attempt. Does anyone know if there is a certain period of time u have to wait before u can excercising, if u conceive thru IVF? I workout regularly, so after not being able to work out for the last month, I'm anxious to get back into but, but obv don't want to do anything that may harm the pregnancy

Which doctor are you seeing in DFGC? I used to see dr. Wael and he always made time for me and my husband and even now when I visit him with the baby he still makes time to have a conversation. Maybe it has become a lot more busy than last year than.

Thank u so much for all you help! I think I'll wait till the 12 week scan as well. I'm still seeing the dr at the Fertility Center in Dubai, and while I am so eternally grateful to him bc he made this happen for us, I just wish he had a bit more time for me. Every time I go in to see time with questions (like this one), he is so super busy, and I just feel rushed and then forget all my questions. I think after my 2 week scan with them, I'll find another ob/gyn, and speak to them as well to see what their thoughts are. Thanks again!! congratulations on your pregnancy. It's not surprise to hear how busy your doctor is at the moment. It probably won't change once you move to a regular OB. The best thing you can do is start jotting down any questions you've got on a piece of paper and taking your notes with you. Trust me, this is a habit you'll want to keep even when switching to a regular OB, because even if they're rushing you, you'll make sure that all your questions get answered.

Congratulations! I was very active too before my IVF but during my pregnancy I wasn't allowed to exercise at all for various reasons. At the moment your ovaries are probably quite big. Exercising can cause ovarian torsion so I would not start anything without consulting the doctor. I remember that at 12 wks u/s my ovaries were still too big for exercise. Later my placenta was also too low for exercise but it moved up as my uterus expanded. Definitely check with your doc before you start any exercise. edited by MDM Mom on 10/01/2011

I can only speak out of my own experience, but in my case I was only allowed to get back to exercise after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Before being pregnant I was exercising 5 times a week, played tennis twice a week and danced salsa so this new regimen was killing me (and still is). I had a previous miscarriage 2 months before getting pregnant so the doctor said lets wait until the 12 week scan. Lucky I didnt go to the gym because I had placenta previae and I was NOT allowed any kind of exercise or lifting until the 20 week scan when they saw it naturally solved itself. I than went back to the gym but my heart wasnt really in it anymore and I stopped at 8 months because I was in to much pain. Of course that is MY experience. My sister got pregnant naturally and she played squash all the time even though I kept telling her be careful she didnt want to listen. She went into labor at 29 weeks and delivered her twins prematurely. I dont know if there is a connection but if I was her I wouldnt have played heavy impact sports when preggers of twins. How many embryos did they implant?

The best thing to do is contact your ob/gyn or their nurse to ask the question I would say. Take a look at Urban Energy Fitness if you are interested in classes. They specialise in prenatal fitness. eta, Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!! edited by janesul on 10/01/2011
