Introducing toddler who doesn't talk yet to new sibling
My daughter is 2 years and 4 months old. She has a vocabulary of more than 100 words, makes herself understood (most of the times) but doesn't talk in sentences yet. The pead says there's nothing to worry about and this is because she is exposed to three languages at home. I'm not so worried about her speech, but I'm nervous about how she will express herself when the new baby arrives in Oct. I don't think she's going to make miraculously dramatic progression in talking in just 2 more months. We do try and talk to her about the baby, show her videos of babies on You Tube, she even kisses my tummy and says baby etc.., but I am not so sure she understands that the baby is one day going to come out :o
Any tips? We are going to do the baby gets her a gift thing and all that in the hospital, but I'm just nervous about how she will express her emotions when the new one arrives. How do I make her understand that this baby is going to be a permanent member of the family once it arrives?
