I would suggest she is still too young and, as mentioned bellow, a hungry style baby. I believe you both need more time to adjust. The formula as mentioned is an option that works, but I would rather wait and let her adjust.
Hold on there, be patient. Try to sleep when she is sleeping during the day too. Enjoy your baby girl and good luck!
Hi Corinnad, I'm glad I read your post as I went through the same thing with my DS over two years ago and have never met anyone else with a baby like this. My DS was my third child so I thought I knew all about babies!! But from the day he was born he was such a hungry baby. He was also ok during the day, I would breastfeed him every 2 hours or so but at night I would feed him on and off for around 3 hours. Then he would sleep for four hours which was nice for the first few days as I really needed my sleep. But with two small DDs at home, a DH that was at work and no home help the best thing for us was to put him on formula for his night feeds (I'm not suggesting you do this, it was just the best thing for us). That did help as it seemed to satisfy him for longer and from around 6 weeks old he was sleeping 6 hours at night but unfrotunately when he was 4 months old he refused my milk and was formula fed from then :(
I would guess that your DD could also be a "hungry" baby. Your body will adjust to how much milk to supply so if she carries on like this in a few weeks you should have more milk in the evening to satisfy her and her feeding time should be reduced :)
Hi Ladies,
I have a 3week old DD and her eating patterns are a bit strange.
I express pump and feed her this way, she will take 4-5ozs at each feed.
She will feed ok during the day but then after her last feed at night which is somewhere around 10.3-11pm she will then look to get fed more or less for a few hours, sometimes lasting into 3-4am...
When she eventually settles she is grand and will sleep ok to her next feed.
Has anyone else experience this? Why does it only seem to happen last thing at night?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks
