It could be pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) which I had in my 3rd trimester - not harmful to you or the baby but itches like MAD and kept me awake at night .. after my DD was born it spread to my legs and ankles - DH had to apply cold compress to stop me scratching myself raw ..

Hey Pilates mama, I'd suggest you check with your Dr. It's probably nothing, but in the third trimester it can also be a sign of a condition that I believe is linked to the liver, I can't remember the name now but will look it up and will re-post.

Hi ladies.... This has happened to me as well from the beginning of the 2nd trimester although i was pregnant during the cooler season of the year.My obs gynae told me that it was due to the stretching of the tummy. She asked me to stop using Palmers Cocoa Butter cream & instead prescribed Mustella to be used. The itchiness & redness disappeared very soon but the marks are still there.

i had the itchiness too in pregnancy and it was so worse that all my tummy was bright red.don't scratch it or you'll have marks left over.have you consulted your obs gynae? its better to get it checked. sometimes its due to other medical reasons and other times its just normal and starts only in 3 trimester (i had in 27 week) got all the tests done and nothing came. i was prescribed cetaphil lotion by doc and was asked to let them aired if i am at home :). i use to apply medicated talc, coconut oil and cetaphil lotion too. do not take hot or warm bath at all. this aggravates them. i still have marks left over and all my skin is pigmented there :(

This happens to me as well, esp now that its summer. My doctor prescribed calamine lotion so what i do is get off the lotion for stretch marks for 2days and use calamine instead. It usually clears up after that so I go back to using the stretch marks lotion.

I get red lines, but that's because I scratch the skin sometimes because it gets sooo itchy! Shouldnt do that though because it will give you stretch marks later. Keep applying baby oil, cocoa butter or any lotion to your skin so it's moisturised. I think the red bumps are just irritation and nothing serious --Due July 24th--
