Hello all,

I'm back from my appointment with Dr. Liliana at Healh Bay Policlinic and seems that I'm going to give IVF a try (kind of long story).

The thing is, I've been with Dr. Liliana since last November and I would usually trust her, but she's recommended Eve fertility center in Sharjah and I can't really find individual reviews on the internet about them (except for those displayed on their own website). Then I read an awful review by a fellow member of expatwoman and now I'm utterly confused, since all this is new to me, I'm quite frustrated already because I can't have children "the normal way" and now this thing with the fertility center!

Advice anyone, please? I just don't know what to do :( :(

Hi CarmeN32 My Dr reccommended me to one of the fertility centre in Sharjah. When asked about Fakih, she claim that this centre will give me good price. I am waiting for my beta this thursday. I donno abt Eve. I've done my homework. In all i spent 33k dhs. 17,250dhs is for ivf icsi. Medication n hormone jabs cost me almost 13k! The oni readon i chose sharjah was because embryo freezing not allowed in Dubai. however things did not turn out as i tot it would. I did not get much egg during retrieval n ended up w no embryo to freeze at the end... :-( Honestly Fakih will be a better option. To save u all the inconvenience of shuttling and given Fakih has good reputation n success rate. Fakih charge oni 30k inc. of hormone jabs. Its cheaper not as overprice like my gynea n lots other ladies claimed. Given a choice to do this again i will jus go w Fakih. I hope ur current cycle works tt u dont hv to go thru ivf. Its really a stressful journey for me.. Cos lots tt i dint expect happen. All the best for u..

Thanks for your comment, tuddy. It really helps to know there are women here who are going -or went- through the same. I'm just wondering right now if there's any online support group based in the UAE? As for the clinic, I'm still thinking about why my gynecologist would have recommended that one. Anyhow, I'm starting a new cycle today with the hormonal treatment and I'm just hoping it will be enough. Best of luck on your second cycle, hope to hear the good news soon!! edited by CarmeN32 on 30/03/2014

Hi CarmenN32, Choosing an IVF clinic is quite daunting here and I was in the same position last year, after lots of googling I decided to go with Bourn Hall and achieved a pregnancy on my first cycle however it wasn't a successful pregnancy (due to circumstances beyond our control) and so I am on to cycle 2 again at Bourn Hall. I found the care extremely personalised and although they are a bit more expensive, they are worth every fil. Everyone from the nurses and doctors to the embryology team have been amazing and have taken time to answer all my questions and made me feel very comfortable at an incredibly stressful time. I actually did an IUI cycle at a fertility clinic in Sharjah as my gynaecologist recommended it and that experience felt like mass production to the point that my hubby refused to do any further cycles with them and I have to say that it was the best decision we have made. Best of luck choosing the clinic, take your time and choose one that you are comfortable with and maybe speak to other ladies who have been to the various clinics. Lots of baby dust to you!

Hi, No, I live in Dubai, but wouldn't really mind going to Sharjah for the ivf procedure if it's worth it. shell40: no, I didn't go yet. I decided to wait for three more months using progesterone and clomid, as Dr. Lilliana suggested in the first place. I'm not sure if what I'm doing is the right thing to do, but after reading more about the ivf I felt it's something I'd like to avoid if possible. As for the ivf clinics in Dubai, Bourn Hall and Dr. Fakih have the best reviews, what makes me feel confused, since it was Dr. Liliana saying Fertility clinics in dubai are more expensive and more... How to put it? Business oriented? Basically, you don't get a personalized treatment in them, it's more like mass production :/
