Hi hi
I have litterally just gone through the process so here is what happened to me.
On the second day of your period you go to the clinic where you will meet with your doctor again and have a scan. You will then have your first blood test and have your first hormone injection of the medication. You will also have to start taking antibiotics.
You will take take the hormone injections for approximately 12 days - going to the clinic every 4 days or so for more scans and blood tests. The scans and blood tests are to check how many eggs are developing act.
After about 12 days you will be told when to take an injection that makes you ovulate. This has to be timed exactly so that they retrieve the eggs at the right time. Your egg retrieval will be sheduled for about 30 hours later. This is done under anaesthetic and takes about 30mins but you will at the clinic for maybe 2 hours. You will then start taking progesterone supplements and possibly blood thinners.
3 days after the retrieval your fertilized eggs will be transferred back to you.. and then you begin the wait :))
I hope this helps and fingers crossed for you

Hi ladies, it looks like I will be more than likely starting IVF next month. Originally I was dead set on natural IVF, but since talking to the Dr, she strongly suggested conventional IVF because of my age (42). I'm going home for Christmas but when I briefly mentioned this, she said no you won't. I didn't think to ask why as I will be starting in November. Then I started to google the process of IVF and I'm now confused as I thought I would be starting the meds prior to my period - how long is the process and when do the meds start and for how long? Basically how long is the process from start to finish? Please give me some assistance and guidance ladies! Thank you..
