Going from the good, ugly and bad thread on C-section, anyone else got Keloid Scar from this??
I want to get rid of mine, it's below my bikini line but am so self concious these days .. Is that possible to get rid of Keloid scar???

I’ve tried different scar tape and other remedies, often ended up with rashes from the bandage. I decided to give Dermalmd scar gel a try, and ended with better experience than before. The gel creates breathable shield on the skin without excessive stickiness or grease. It feels light and no obvious odor, which I appreciated very much.

I have a short one in the middle of my scar (it was glued in the middle and sutured on the edges) but I do plan for more babies and was under the impression they would just remove the scar then. As far as I know keloids are just bad luck rather than poor surgery and the glue looked amazing for the first few months after the surgery so I guess it would ultimately have been a tiny scar if it hadn't formed a keloid. I would see a plastic surgeon if you have no more babies planned, I assume that even if you don't have another c-section they could still cut it away but there would be no guarantee another keloid wouldn't form. My son suffers very badly with keloid scarring. Any cuts and some injections like TB have resulted in large lumpy scars. A doctor here gave us contractubex cream. It was truly amazing how much the scar tissue reduced. If son used it 3 times per day as advised I imagine they would almost be gone. It may be worth having a look. It was 30dhs from the chemist.

No the first was here in Dubai. Thought she was excellent until I went back home (states) and found she had given me incorrect advice and a horrible scar to boot. Who was the dr here in dubai if you don't mind me asking? So the corrective one was done in the US?

Had a really bad keloid scar after my first, doctor had glued the scar instead of stitching. Then with my second child the doctor cut above and below it sutured it and it's perfect now. Mine also was itchy. If you're not planning on having a second c section then see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, am sure it can be fixed. Cocoloco who did your 2 nd c section, was it a dr here in Dubai?

Actually now that I read this website: http://www.medicinenet.com/keloid/article.htm I am thinking I don't have Keloid but hypertrophic scar .... because it is "confined to the margin of the wound" still after two years I can still feel the scar and at times can be very itchy. Should I go and see a dermatologist? No idea CB! It was recommended to me by my Dr, and that is as much as I know about it, unfortunately!

Should I go and see a dermatologist? Generally speaking, topical scar treatments work best when used closer to the time of the incision. Doubt it will do much if anything 2 years later. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist.

My sister was left with a really bad keloid scar (thickening of the tissue and really red) after her 1st c section, then on her second c section they removed it and she was left with the most amazing scar, which is virtually invisible now! If you are going to have a second c section do your research in drs and make sure you choose one who does great scars! Hers was done in the UK on the NHS so it was just pot luck to be honest.
