Hi Ladies

My poor little girl has reflux so we've been advised to give her 7ml of infant gaviscon before every feed. Great in theory.

Problem is, its taking between half an hour to an hour to get it into her, and even then, not always managing the full amount - she just lets it sit in her mouth and wont swallow no matter what i do. So what with this, an hour to feed, a short break half way thru, then keeping her upright for 20 mins afterwards (also as advised) every feed is taking me anything up to 2 and a half hours plus, by which time i need to start the whole process again! She's only 3 weeks old and i'm stressing out, esp as next week DH has to go home for a few days leaving me and LO here on our own. No idea how im gona cope!

If anyone has any magic tricks on how to get the gaviscon in a bit quicker and easier, please tell me!

TIA! xx

I've never tried this with such a young baby so not sure if it will work but maybe dipping your finger in it and letting her suck it off your finger instead of giving by spoon/syringe? Cecile is right, better to hold off on the bottle. Was your baby unhappy with the reflux or just spitting up a lot, if its only spit up I wouldn't worry about trying to give anything, too much hassle.

Hey Plumie! How are you doing? It was Cecile that says she thinks its reflux, and so far the gaviscon that we have managed to get into her seems to be helping, its just such a battle every time! Using the sachets but exclusively BF at the mo. Cecile says we should wait another 2 weeks before we start expressing and using a bottle with her :( In a bottle would be much easier tho! Would love a visit if you're free! :) Are you driving yet? I've still got another 3 weeks to go before I can be let lose behind the wheel. Grrr!! Do you have my number? If not, I'll drop you a txt and can give you directions. Looking forwards to seeing you and your 2 little princesses! :) xx

Oh poor baby :( No tips of tricks though! My DD1 also had reflux and we chose not to medicate, she outgrew it at around 16/19 weeks! Who diagnosed her, who is your Dr? Are you using the liquid or sachets? I think the sachets you can mix in a bottle of milk, not sure, but I have some downstairs and can check for you?! Surely this must be easier than the syringe! Let me know if you are up for a visit and we can pop around, maybe next week sometime? X
