MedCare and antenatal package (a bit of a rant)

so I booked an appointment in Medcare and stated that it will be my 1st visit and I want it a part of antenatal package (DHS5K). Medcare assured me that it is ok and will be covered by my comp. Neuron insuarance (direct billing).

Went there today to find out (from obnoxious receptionist at ob-gyn reception) that the package is only for cash paying patient and I can pay and claim. They refused to call Neuron.

Well - called Neuron who stated that it should have been pre-approved and billed directly to them. Medcare did not agree.

Walked off. It is not the matter of money - it was the matter of principle and the way receptionist dealt with me. Sorry Medcare I am back to Healthbay for my antenatal visits and American or City will get nice chunk of money for delivery of DS.

Rant over.

you are better off without medcare...my first exp was bad with them (general health check up ) and recently one of my friend delievered there...not good exp. get to city as soon as possible...i have got an appointment with Dr Elsa for july!! check with your company if they are covered...if you want i can post the details of the packages as i have been there recently. Thank you Manu, much appreciated. City is part of the network and I heard only very good things. I am with Healthbay and very happy with them generally. Medcare package looked really good on paper - oh well I should have stuck to what I know best. Will not bother with them anymore.

You are better off. Medcare is a butcher shop. Go with City. I think they are better than American. I delivered at City-brilliant and will do so again with baby #2. I have had friends who have delivered at both, and say City had better care. Good luck Thank you NYCDoll, DD was delivered in AH and we were happy. I heard only good things about City and am ready to give it a go :)
