Hi ladies I am 38 +5 weeks had a membrane sweep yesterday and had a show straight away and i still today have spotting bleeding.

Had to go have my BP checked by the nurse at the GP surgery today and she said if by monday it hasnt stopped to give the midwives a call.

My question is how long did the spotting etc typically last for you ? i know everyones different but just curious to know

TIA

When i had mine done i spotted for a couple of days then on day3 it slowed down, but i had a panty liner on. my waters broke on the third day. luckily i still had the panty liner on so i knew they had gone. But it was not a huge gush of water, just a trickle. When i changed position waters would come out. GOOD LUCK! hope baby comes soon

am actually surprised i got one as am in the UK and was panicking that the would leave me until 42 weeks so was shocked when they said they where going to do it. Babys head has been engaged and down since 34 weeks so dont know if that has something to do with it. but yeah heres to an uncomplicated easy birth when it happens :) hehe - lol, where's that my comment blown out of the water! I had to ask really nicely to get mine at 40+3!

Thanks H.A.K bubs is still very active :) will give the midwives a call tomorrow have a 2nd sweep booked for next thursday hopefully I go before then! :D I just can't get over how early they feel the need to do sweeps here. It seems they consider the baby should be out as soon as it hits 38 weeks! They only need to have made a bit of a mistake estimating the due date and hop, there's a bubs who's strictly speaking premature. I'm just generalising here - it's very much a comment about the medical profession advising mums than the mums themselves. Fingers crossed that you'll have a swift and easy labour!

I gave birth 8 hours after my second sweep. No spotting after the first, 5 days earlier. I'd actually call in to the hospital tomorrow if it hasn't stopped. Go in straight away if you think bubs has stopped/ slowed down moving, if you feel any further pain or feel damp down below - sometimes you waters can "go" in drips and you hardly notice.
