Hello Ladies!
I gathered from previous posts that you both had early babies. Could you please let me know which hospitals you delivered at and how the NICU care was? I had my first (preemie) at al wasl- it was a last minute emergency admission.Im due with bubs 2 in august and need to be prepared!
TIA

I just checked the physicians list at CH and Dr Elsa didnt figure! i went into panic mode for a few minutes until the CH appointments dept answered and reconfirmed my appt! Phew!!!! Im covered by ADNIC. A close friend is managing my account and ive requested her to follow up once bubs is out. Its imperative to inform them of the birth in the first week and they will process the babys coverage immediately. Baby is usually covered under mums card for a month ( as long as its within the coverage limit) So hopefully thats smooth. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. Congratulations on making ur 3 lovely babies! Pregnancy tho very natural can be stressful and when you come out of it with healthy strong babies you really need to pat yourself on the back...and offcoursecouldnt happen without the doctors who literally give them life!

No - unfortunately I make very poor placenta's and it started failing and my LO wasn't developing :( Thankfully it was picked up tho! However... after 3 dodgy placenta's I'm done! No more! I have 3 gorgeous boys and I'm a very lucky mummy! Dr Elsa was fantastic - very calm, great care and she even popped into NICU a few times to check on my man to see how he was going! If you're covered at CH I would stick with them! I'm sure LD can fill you in on her time at Al Wasl too. But really... CH were fantastic! Hopefully tho you don't need them at all!!! Which insurance company are you with? Cause we are with Daman - and J was covered while I was in maternity - but as soon as I was discharged he wasn't covered in NICU and the hospital accounts department were onto us to pay deposits and settle bills etc... I didn't appreciate their harassment during such a stressful time! But my DH ran around like a headless chicken for a few days and sorted out insurance for J and it was fine from then... no out of pocket at all!!! I was really comfortable at CH with NICU. Maternity were a little ugghh at times but for peace of mind with their NICU I'd always recommend them!

Thanks Meals!! You have put my mind at ease. I am booked into Dr Elsa's schedule and have my first appt with her ( at 18 weeks) next week. I had preclamsia the first time and hence the emergency c-section. DD was in distress also due to the cord around her neck! I totally understand when you say 'everything is a blur' now!!! It really is! Al wasl was great that way with DD and i am so grateful to them for saving my life and hers so i dont really remember anything bad...it was so very quick! However, now after 4 years, i feel more confident of my pregnancy and myself -even if the case is to repeat again and so i didnt run back to al wasl. Their charges are also high ( NICU used to be free then) and my insurance doesnt cover even on reimbursement. CH is covered and i hope it all works out well for me. Did you go into preterm labour?

Congratulations! :) Very exciting... Good idea to be prepared! I delivered at City Hospital under the care of Dr Elsa. NICU were absolutely amazing - the staff, both nursing and medical, were fabulous and I was very impressed! There are two neonatologists there who share the unit - they are both very good at discussing the situation with you - explaining everything, communicating everything along the way and allowing you to be a major component of every decision. The nursing staff are fantastic - couldn't have asked for better nursing care. I was completely comfortable with their abilities and knowledge - my LO was very safe and in the best possible place! One thing I found (that I think LD had some issues with) was that they are very pro-breastfeeding. They will encourage this very much, but more than anything... they did not d/c us until they were 100% happy that my LO was breastfeeding perfectly well, gaining weight and had no issues related to feeding. It meant that when we came home it was an easy transition. Just prior to the end of J's stay there they had my "room-in" for 4 or 5 days (it's a blur now!) in which they had me in a room in the hospital looking after J independantly and assessed his wieght gain over that period to ensure feeding was still going to be great on d/c (as they will top-up with bottles overnight when you're not there). I would thoroughly recommend CH and their NICU! However... make sure your insurance covers this as it is hideously expensive!!! We had issues to start and had to self-pay for the first 7 days until my DH could sort out J's own health insurance (after getting birth certificate etc)... It was refunded but it's a massive amount of money they wanted paid.
