Need help re DH and toddler tantrums - any advice would be appreciated
Our nearly 3 year old DD is a handful; she's fun, feisty and strong willed but she's also a very sensitive child. DH can barely stand to spend any time with her these days - the smallest little niggles seem to turn into huge mountains as he gets so angry if she won't sit still, or read her book nicely, or get dressed immediately etc. The point of this post is not to knock my DH but try to find some kind of solution or way to help him learn to deal with her and actually listen to her before simply assuming that everything stems from naughtiness (which is doesn't.). He refuses to read any kind of books about behavioural issues and categorically refuses to discuss it with me. Can anyone recommend a course, DVD or similar?
FYI 'Super Granny' came to see us approx 12 months ago and I think that actually made things worse as now the default response to anything is the threat of time out or straight to time out without even trying to understand what is wrong and what the root cause of the 'naughtiness' is. He constantly threatens her with time out and tells her she is naughty...
Edited to add: 'I don't think that any kind of public forum/course would be a good idea as DH is even stricter and less tolerant in public.
