Thats great that your LO was fine after 14 days. Unfortunately DS's reflux is not mild and symptoms are back with vengeance. I didnt realise Nexium could stop working?

my ds had a mild reflux as told by the doctor. he was on nexium for 14 days and was suddenly better. i was happy too. he is now 5 month old and sometimes he has reflux particulalry in the evening. but the docotr said its completely fine. its normal for the babies to suddenly refuse milk for a day or 2 or if they are vomiitng.the main concern is the weight gain. it should be appropriate. however if your symptoms are for more then 48 hrs or if he is vomiting frequently then please take him to doctor. after the recommended period of 14 days i didn't had to repeat the process.posted early :) does your baby has constipation? your LO is too small right now. my ds was same at that age.screaming all day long and we use to think "poor guy" but its natural for the babies. gas or wind do give them lot of discomfort and its foreign to them. they are still adjusting to the small thing as farting.my ds has loud voice so you can imagine the screaming episodes in our house. after 2 months he stopped screaming while farting and pooping. you do check your diet if your are breastfeeding. or if formula then change the formula. google and try diffrent positiong for breastfeeding. my baby found comfort in lying down position.give frequent and samll feeds. he will be better soon. i don't know why but babies this age has these problems. <em>edited by angel joy on 01/10/2012</em>

Hi ladies, My LO is now 6 weeks old and roughly 8 pounds. Hes on Nexium 10mg in the morning and 10mg in the evening and within days all of his symptoms disappeared. We couldnt have been happier. The just a week ago he vomited a few times within a 48 hour period. Poor guy lost his voice a little from it and slowely all the symptoms of his silent reflux returned. Now for the last 48 hours hes drinking hardly half of his usual feed and every time I try to feed him he screams and cries after one gulp and then I end up soothing him and putting him to sleep till an hour or so later when we do it all over again. Hes never slept well, always cries and hes always been very uncomfortable when farting and pooping (screaming episodes) but recently thats become very bad as well. He screams the house down everytime he has to fart and hes literally farting all day long so alot of screaming. It doesnt seem healthy. Weve already tried gaviscon in the bottle, zantac, motillium and various colic and gas drops. From everything I've heard Nexium is a wonder drug. Why has it stopped working all of a sudden? Mummys who have used Nexium please get in touch! xox
