Hi!

I posted on the main forum but no joy and like I say you've always been so helpful I thought I'd ask the question here. Am finally stopping expressing / b'feeding and time to take care of myself a bit - starting with braces I should have had a long long time ago. I have been advised the metal ones are best and really want to take the advice of the orthodontist but seen the ceramics and they are a little easier on the eye at my time of life...!

For anyone that's had ceramics - do they go yellow after 6 months and look awful or were you happy with them - also were they easy to damage or uncomfortable?

If this is garbled I apologise, as usual am in a rush with the bubster never far away but really need to make a quick and qualified decision and would really appreciate your advice / thoughts.

Thanks girls!

Thanks Pav :) Everyone seems to talk about this dentist so I'm guessing it is a really good one. It is something I will definitely look into once I get settled :)

Hi SherylR I go to Drs Nicholas & Asp in Dubai Healthcare City - seeing Dr Ali overseen by Prof Artun. I just had two teeth out yesterday, two more sat and then the braces go on Monday - so far so good. They have a website if you google it - Healthcare City is the graduate school and is better priced than the regular clinics. They are all qualified dentists undergoing further specialist ortho training. Sorry no more details at present - the bubster wants his feed! Good luck!

Can I ask where you are getting your braces done? I would like them in the very near future and dont have a clue where to start looking and what a reasonable price is? Id be ok with having the metal ones

I was advised to go full metal as this would be best and have agreed despite wanting to go the ceramic route due to my vanity! However I trust my dentist and think it'll be worth it in the end. Glad the ceramics worked for you though nutty. I'm actually quite excited to get this process started because, like pregnancy, it has a finish line and there's something great to be had at the end of it (even if there's a bit of pain and humiliation along the way!).

How funny, after giving birth i also got braces.... I opted for the ceramic ones as this is my 3rd set. Didn't find they went yellow after a few months but i had the bands/wires changed every month by dentist as the bands that hold them in place do discolour regularly. I have also had the braces that go behind the teeth but do not recommend them as they were pretty painfull and takes a little longer for the teeth to move this way. I saw Dr Joy in Jumeriah and found it pretty reasonable.
